We currently source our single vision lenses from some of the world’s leading suppliers in Amsterdam, Malaysia, Thailand and Japan. You can learn more about our suppliers here.
Single vision lenses are the most common type, with one prescription over the whole surface of the lens. We also make multifocal lenses, which have multiple prescriptions on one lens.
All our lenses are made in laboratories from lightweight, impact-resistant plastics, adjusted to each unique prescription. They come in different thicknesses from 1.5 to 1.67 index. If you’ve got a strong prescription, we’ll choose a thinner, higher index lens, but won’t charge you extra.
We offer a 30-day no-questions-asked return policy. If you’re not happy with your glasses, come back and we’ll do our best to put a smile on your face.
We apply special anti-reflection and anti-scratch coatings to all our lenses. We know what you’re thinking, but unlike other opticians, we won’t charge you extra. Neat, right?
This coating prevents reflected glare, with over 99% of visible light passing through the lenses, making them even better to see through. People looking at you get a nice view of your eyes, too.
Scratched lenses are no fun, which is why our lenses all have a hard anti-scratch coating included. Please still keep them in their case when you’re not wearing them though: they’re tough, but not indestructible.
Filters are component layers of the lens that reduce some forms of light passing through them.
All our optical and sunglass lenses contain UV-A and UV-B filters which block 96% of UV rays and meet the EU standards of protection. Now, where’s the beach?
For €20 extra, you can also equip your lenses with our blue light filter. It does what it says on the tin: block blue light that comes from the sun and digital screens. It can help your eyes feel more comfortable if you work behind a computer all day.
In Europe, sun glare protection is categorised from 0-4, with 0 being the lightest and 4 the darkest. All our standard sunglass lenses are category 3, which provides enough protection for everyday use. We don’t use category 4 lenses, as these would block too much light for simple tasks like driving.
We do have a few frames with category 2 lenses that are lighter in colour (like our pink-lensed Sofia). These are more suited for when you just want to look good — they don’t offer enough protection for a day by the pool. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
We don’t sell polarised sunglass lenses. Although they are handy for blocking glare from water, they also make screens difficult to read. Not great for us social media addicts.
Photochromic lenses that change from light to dark when exposed to daylight are also something we don’t offer. We’re just not into them. Why not try some glasses from our clip-on range instead?
