The last guest mix of 2018 is a big one, and it comes from none other than the Bristolian wonder girl (and office favourite) Shanti Celeste.
This session sees Shanti move through some softer soundscapes, a series of really special ambient tunes, and soothing, mind-altering melodies. Although predominantly beat-less, make sure you collect the energy-booster at the end; there's some dubbier sounds and a bit of slo-mo house to push you through those hazy post-Christmas days. We absolutely loved this one.
Hey, Shanti, how did 2018 go for you?
2018 was amazing, exhausting, exciting and a lot of other words too! It was a super busy year but I made some great friends and played some amazing places that had some lovely crowds. Overall it has been pretty great. I’m very thankful to be doing what I’m doing.
Can you tell us a tiny bit about the idea behind the mix you’ve put together for us?
I just wanted to do something a bit more chilled, as we are getting to the end of the year and slowing down a little bit for the holidays. I guess I wanted it to reflect that. As I recorded it I wanted it to help me relax, contemplate and be happy and grateful for the past year – as well as getting a little excited to take on 2019. Hopefully, listeners will get the same feeling.
Weird one, but if this mix was a pair of Ace & Tate frames, what would it be?
Haha! hmm I’d have to say: Vic in Gold Dust.
You’ve played so many countries now, we want to know what you make of the Dutch crowd.
I love Dutch crowds! In my opinion, they are the closest it gets to a UK crowd which is great because they are usually super energetic and just the right side of rowdy! We need that energy in da clurb!
What are some tracks (not in the mix) that you really enjoy playing out at the moment?
Voids Two by Martyn is a banger - it always works on the dance floor. Continuum Of The Mind by Steffi, is such a beauty. And on Steffi’s own Dolly label: Freedom by Unbalance.
Favorite place to play in Amsterdam?
I haven't played that many different places, considering how many clubs there are in Amsterdam. I guess I’d have to say De School!
Give us your fav new name or hot tip for 2018.
What’s up for your label Peach Discs in 2019?
There will be some exciting releases from both new and more established artists. We’ll also be getting some full cover artwork on the sleeves. Stay tuned!
