Art curator based in Barcelona, exploring the relationship between private life and creative practice through intimate, context driven experiences.
By turning her own living space into a public gallery, Carmen Riestra purposefully blurs the line between domestic life, work, and creative practice, making art an accessible, lived experience. Her gallery, VASTO, in Barcelona’s trendy Poblenou district is one of the most talked-about art spaces in Spain. VASTO focuses on contemporary art and collectible design. It champions multi-talented artists and designers while supporting new voices.
Carmen is moved by new concepts, new ideas, and new voices. “People’s minds intrigue me. Artists can show us new ways of living, of reshaping the world around us. They can change the way we perceive things.” And how would she like to be perceived? As both a mother and an entrepreneur, if possible. Carmen hopes to be a role model in that regard, showing that you can make things happen on both sides: you can balance motherhood with professional goals, regardless of what people say about it.
