Lenses and Coatings

Our lenses are way more than just curved pieces of plastic. A lot goes into making the perfect pair of lenses, unique to you.

Where are our lenses made?

We currently source our single vision lenses from some of the world’s leading suppliers in Amsterdam, Malaysia, Thailand and Japan. You can learn more about our suppliers here.

What kind of lenses do we sell?

Single vision lenses are the most common type, with one prescription covering the whole surface of the lens. We also make varifocal lenses, which have multiple prescriptions on one lens.

All our lenses are made in laboratories from lightweight, impact-resistant plastics, adjusted to each unique prescription. They come in different thicknesses — 1.5, 1.6, 1.67 and 1.74 index and based on your prescription, we’ll choose the best lens for you. From 1.5 to 1.6, we won’t charge you extra for the slimmest option.

We offer a 30-day no-questions-asked return policy. If you’re not happy with your glasses, come back and we’ll do our best to put a smile on your face.

We apply special anti-reflection and anti-scratch coatings to all our lenses. We know what you’re thinking, but unlike other opticians, we won’t charge you extra. Neat, right?

Note that our Premium Lenses offer a range of advanced coatings in an ultra-thin lens.

This coating prevents reflected glare and helps you see better through your lenses. People get a nice view of your eyes, too — and who wouldn’t want that?

Scratched lenses are no fun, which is why all our lenses have an anti-scratch coating. Please keep your glasses in their case when you’re not wearing them, though: they’re tough but not indestructible.

Filters are component layers of the lens that prevent different types of radiation from passing through it and damaging your eyes.

Ultraviolet (UV) Protection

All our optical and sunglass lenses contain UV-A and UV-B filters that block 100% of UV rays and meet the EU protection standards.

Blue Light Filter

For an additional €25, you can equip your lenses with our blue light filter. It blocks high-level radiation emitted by digital screens — protecting your eyes and keeping them fresh.

Please note that if you have a high prescription, we do not recommend the Blue Light Filter in combination with our thinnest lens option.

Sunlight Filters

In Europe, sun glare protection is categorised from 0-4, with 0 being the lightest and 4 the strongest. All our standard sunglass lenses are category 3, which provides enough protection for everyday use.

We do have a few frames with category 2 lenses that are lighter in colour (like our yellow-tinted Peggy frame). They’re only meant to look good and don’t offer enough protection for a day by the pool. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Polarised Lenses

Get rid of glare with our Polarised Lenses. They neutralise and slow down horizontally-travelling light (e.g. reflected from water). It relaxes your eyes and allows you to see more vibrant colours. Polarised Lenses cost an additional €50.

We can't do it all

We don’t sell photochromic lenses that change from light to dark when exposed to daylight. We’re just not into them. If you want a more easy transition between specs and sunnies, why not try some clip-on friendly glasses instead?
