Financial Controller (RA)

Amsterdam

32 - 40 hours

Great glasses start with great people. Our culture is built on curiosity, collaboration, and care. Curious how we work?

We’re Ace & Tate – and yes, we make glasses. But more than that, we make working here worth your while.

We are looking for a RA Financial Controller at our Amsterdam HQ, 32-40 hours.

Our finance function is in full transformation mode: moving from a reporting back-office to a team that's properly embedded in how the business runs. We've just migrated to a new ERP, Odoo, and now the real work begins. A lot is still being built, and a lot is still a blank canvas. That's the opportunity and chance to be a part of something meaningful.

We're looking for someone who gets a kick out of designing processes from scratch, improving what isn't working yet, and shaping the way finance operates for the long run.

You'll join a young, energetic team that's ambitious and still figuring it out together. If you want a role where you can grow fast, take ownership early, and bring others up with you, keep reading.

What our Financial Controllers do

  • Redesign how finance works. Take processes that need rebuilding (or building for the first time) and make them properly yours — close, controls, reporting, the lot.
  • Make the ERP earn its keep. We've migrated; now we need to get real value out of it. Streamline, automate, integrate.
  • Partner with Business Control to embed finance in the business. Together, you'll move us from reporting on the business to working with it — supporting decisions, business cases, and transactions.
  • Own the close and statutory reporting. Monthly and year-end close, annual accounts, and audit coordination across key European markets (NL, Germany, Belgium, UK, and Spain).
  • Tackle the technical stuff. Transfer pricing, intercompany, purchase price allocation, internal controls, asset impairment assessments.
  • Bring the team up. Coach and develop more junior colleagues — a real part of the role, not an afterthought.

You have

  • Dutch RA qualified or close to completion. This is a non-negotiable. Candidates with only ACCA, CPA, CA, or DipIFR qualifications will not be considered for this position.
  • 5+ years in financial reporting or accounting, ideally with Dutch GAAP exposure. Big 4 background is a strong plus.
  • Strong technical foundation: accounting, tax, internal controls, financial processes.
  • A genuine appetite for building, not maintaining. You see unfinished processes as opportunities, not problems.
  • Comfort with Odoo and consolidation tools is a bonus — but more important is curiosity about systems and how to make them work harder.
  • Strong Excel and a real interest in automation and AI. We want someone who'll push us, not wait for permission.
  • Fluent English and the ability to turn financial complexity into something the business can actually use.
  • Someone who likes coaching and brings others along — and who's still hungry to learn themselves.
  • Calm in ambiguity. A lot here isn't figured out yet. That should excite you.

What we offer

  • The chance to shape a finance function, not inherit one.
  • Ambitious, energetic colleagues who'll push you and learn from you.
  • Competitive salary
  • Flexible hybrid work environment
  • Time off that counts 25 holidays per year (fulltime) plus tenure-based extra days (2 days after one year, 3 days after 2 years)
  • Company pension plan
  • Travel support reimbursement if living more than 10 km from HQ
  • Wellbeing support collaboration with ClassPass and unlimited mental health support via OpenUp
  • Optical perks continuous free updates of your eyewear collection plus great discounts
  • Healthy lunches & snacks daily nutritious lunch and healthy snacks
  • A culture to love participation in events planned by our CultureClub
