  • Non-prescription sunglasses €98
  • Non-prescription glasses €98
  • Single vision glasses (near or distance glasses) €98
  • Single vision sunglasses €148
  • Multifocal glasses €298
  • Multifocal sunglasses €348

We should mention that our titanium and limited edition frames are €/£50 more expensive than the costs you see above.

All of our glasses are created in-house at our Amsterdam studio, and all of our frames are handcrafted with great care from the highest quality materials. You can read more about our story here.

All of our glasses are made with high-quality synthetic (CR-39) lenses. We apply a protective anti-scratch layer to minimise the chance of scratches, as well as a 100% UV protection coating to protect your eyes from harmful UV light.

Our optical lenses and prescription sun lenses also feature a multilayer anti-reflection coating.

So, yeah, pretty good!

All of our multifocal lenses are produced with the innovative freeform digital surface technology. From this, we are able to achieve highly customised and exceptionally accurate lenses for your unique prescription. Depending on your prescription, the index (thickness) of the glass will be adjusted for optimal results. Our lenses are more precise, comfortable and less vulnerable than traditional mineral lenses.

Our multifocal glasses are available up to a maximum sphere between -8.00 or +8.00 and up to a maximum cylinder of -4.00 or +4.00.

Ah, the Blue Light Filter. If you spend long periods behind a computer screen or often use a tablet or mobile device in the evening, then your eyes come into contact with UV blue light that is emitted from these screens (and other artificial light sources).

Long-time exposure to this blue light can be harmful to your health. Because of this, we offer a special coating that protects your eyes from this blue light.

The cost to add this filter to a pair of glasses is €20.

If you already have a pair of glasses, the cost to replace single vision lenses to blue light filter lenses is €/£68 for single vision. Multifocal lenses are not currently available with blue light filter.

The filter gives your lenses a slightly yellow or blue tint (for SDS the tint only comes in yellow). If you want the most beautiful result then we advise staying away from transparent frames when buying glasses with a Blue Light Filter.

Prescriptions

Yes! Schedule an appointment here

No, this isn't a problem. We make prescription lenses with a sphere (SPH) up to -10.00 or +10.00 and a cylinder up to -6.00 or +6.00.

Prescriptions with a cylinder higher than -4.00 and +4.00 can only be ordered in one of our stores, as it is necessary for us to measure your pupillary height.

We make multifocal glasses with a maximum sphere of -8.00 to +8.00 and a cylinder of -4.00 to +4.00.

We use high-index lenses for prescriptions stronger than 3.25 dioptre (cylinder and sphere added together). These lenses are slimmer, and won’t warp the size of your eyes as the standard lenses do with this prescription. We don't charge any additional costs for this option, and we will use the same lenses for both eyes. If one of your eyes has a stronger prescription than the other, both lenses are thinned according to the higher prescription.

We offer two variants of lenses depending on your prescription needs.

Single vision lenses: The lenses that correct either nearsightedness or farsightedness errors are called single vision lenses. These lenses are designed to have the same prescription over the entire surface of the lens.

Multifocal lenses: You might need both near and distance corrections. Instead of constantly changing between two pairs of glasses, you can opt for multifocal lenses.

Yep. A pair of multifocal glasses including prescription lenses costs €298. The price for our multifocal sunglasses is €348.

We offer multifocal glasses up to a maximum sphere between -8.00 or +8.00 and up to a maximum cylinder of -4.00 or +4.00.

Again, that’s no problem. We charge no additional costs for this – you will never pay more than the price that is stated on our website.

Services

Do you feel great in them? In our opinion, that’s what truly matters. However, if you still need a little more assurance, there are a few basic rules which you can follow in order to find the perfect pair of glasses for you.

  • Your pupils look through the middle of the lens
  • The lenses are not much wider than your face
  • We recommend you pick a frame that does not sit in front of your eyebrows, so you can still see all of your facial expressions
  • The glasses should not slide off your nose

Of course, if you’re still stuck, we’d love to help you pick something out.

There are several ways to receive personal style advice – you can pop by the store and speak to our staff, or send us pics via Whatsapp or email and we’ll give you some tip-top advice as soon as we can.

You can also try your hand at our Virtual Try-On feature as well as Home Try-On to help make your decision a little easier.

Our Home Try-On service allows you to pick up to four of your favourite frames (without prescription lenses) and try them on for 5 working days. And the best thing about it – it’s on us!

How to HTO, step by step:

  • Order up to 4 frames and they’ll be shipped straight to your door, for free
  • The package includes the frames you picked out, a packing slip and a pre-printed return label.
  • After having tried them out for 5 days, all you have to do is return the 4 frames back to us for, by following the instructions on the return label. This is free of charge.
  • If you decide to order a frame (or frames), simply visit our website and order online, and we’ll send you a brand new frame, with your prescription.

Home Try-On is available in The Netherlands, United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Spain and Austria. Not to worry, if Home Try-On isn’t available in your country you can still try our frames on using Virtual Try-On.

Pick your frames for your Home Try-On.

This online service allows you to virtually try on different frames and record yourself while you’re at it. To give it a go, simply select the ‘try online’ button found on the right hand side of each product page. Want to know more? Head over here!

We offer a Same Day Service in our stores. With this service, we are able to make your glasses on the same day, usually even within an hour!

The cost for this service is €20, and the service is available for glasses with a spherical prescription between -6.00 and +4.00 and a maximum cylinder of -2.

This service is also available for prescription sunglasses with a spherical prescription between +3.00 and -4.00 and a maximum cylinder of -2.

Sometimes your glasses won’t fit perfectly when you’ve just received them. This can easily be solved by adjusting your frames. We can adjust your frames free of charge and without an appointment in all of our stores. Just walk in at any time and we’ll make sure you leave the store with a pair of perfectly fitting glasses.

The following issues can be solved by adjusting the temples of your frames:

  • The glasses are too tight or too loose
  • The flexible nose pads are too wide or too loose (in case of a metal frame)
  • The frames are too tight at the side of your head
  • The glasses sit a little crooked on your face while you wear them

If you do not live close to one of our stores then you can always go to a local optician to get your glasses adjusted. Most opticians will be happy to help you but sometimes they ask for a small fee.

Yes! You can order new lenses by contacting our customer service team and they’ll set it all up. Then all you have to do is drop by your selected store to get your frames equipped with the new lenses.

If emailing is not your thing, you can also visit one of our stores and our staff will happily help you, of course.

Acetate dries out over time (it’s a natural product), so there is always a chance that your frame could break while putting in new lenses. We will refund you the costs of the new lenses, but we can’t give any warranty on frames that are older than 2 years.

Lots of places!

You can check all of our current locations here.

Your health insurance may cover eye care. Before you purchase frames at Ace & Tate, it's best to check with your insurance provider whether these would be covered for reimbursement. This is completely dependent upon your insurer and the policy you hold.

Before you flash your cash, keep in mind that we only accept payment with credit and debit cards.

Care

We all need a little TLC now and then, and so do your glasses.

Before you dive into this procedure, you need to arm yourself with a few vital tools.

  • Non-acidic soap
  • lukewarm water
  • A (clean) soft cloth

Now that you’re fully equipped, follow these steps:

  • Wash and dry your hands thoroughly.
  • Hold the frame by the nose bridge or temple.
  • Take a small bowl of lukewarm water with a dash of soap.
  • Wipe the lenses with a clean, damp cloth.
  • Start making gentle, circular movements in the lens from the outside to the inside.
  • Repeat until you see that the lenses are clean again.
  • Very gently start cleaning the frames.
  • Take a dry cloth and ensure there is no water left behind.

Ta-da!

Remember, the best way to protect your frames is to keep them in the case.

And also, remember to stay away from this:

  • Don’t dry with heat (hairdryer, etc)
  • Don’t clean with solvents
  • Don’t make jerky movements when cleaning
  • Don’t leave glasses in direct sunlight
  • Don’t leave glasses wet for too long
  • Don’t clean with a dirty cloth
  • Don’t use too much liquid when cleaning
  • Don’t leave it too long before you wash your glasses

Need extra help? Drop by your nearest store, where our staff will give your frame a proper cleaning with an ultrasonic cleaning device, and colored/dirty nose pads can be replaced with new ones.

When you first receive your new frames, you may find that looking through the lenses feels a little strange. This is completely normal whilst your eyes adjust to the new prescription. It can take up to two weeks until your vision feels completely natural whilst wearing your new frames.

As every frame fits the individual face shape differently, it's possible we may need to carry out a few adjustments to get the lenses in the correct place in relation to your eyes. We do our best to get this correct when you first receive your frames in store, but it’s hard to identify the issue until you've had a chance to try the lenses for a while. If any discomfort with your lenses persists, please let us know so we can make any necessary adjustments.

If it's clear that the lenses are causing too much discomfort for use, you could plan in a new eye test in one of our stores or contact our customer experience team. We'll make any necessary adjustments to your frames in order to make sure they're completely comfortable.

Note: Don’t wear your frames if they are causing blurriness, this could be dangerous.

Sustainability

We are not a sustainable company. We are, however, a company that is actively and steadily working towards reducing the footprint we leave behind. Reducing this impact will be the result of many changes – some small, some major. Follow our journey here.

Honestly, not all of our frames are sustainable — only part of our production uses a 100% biodegradable and recyclable type of acetate. In 2019 we began to use a lot more of this form of acetate, however, not all colours are being produced with it just yet. Its technical name is “biodegradable acetate” and it changes the plasticisers from chemicals found in normal acetate into biodegradable plasticisers. Neat, huh?

You can now filter all of our frames on the webshop to see which of our frames contain biodegradable acetate. Browse here.

As for our packaging, we have recently designed a new, more sustainable case. With packaging making up 50% of our total footprint, it became crystal clear: we had to do better.

Below are our humble design principles for packaging, where protection and functionality take the lead:

  • Reduce and eliminate all packaging that’s not functional
  • Re-use and swap single-use for multiple-use packaging
  • Recycle: find waste or surplus materials from other value chains to feed our packaging, and reduce the material complexity to simplify recycling after use

We faced a total of five initial challenges: our glasses case, the box around that same case, our cleaning cloth, the cotton tote bag, and our paper bags.

No animals were harmed in the making of our frames, cloths or packaging. However, some of our glue used in our cases might contain animal material. This is something we unfortunately cannot control, since it is impossible to certify glue.

We believe that the first priority in becoming a more sustainable company is becoming waste free.

Most of the leftovers are being used by other manufacturers to make jewellery or hair accessories. We’ve also been working towards circularity. By rethinking materials and making use of recycled content, the materials will keep their value and we can move further and further towards a circular economy: an economic system where products and services are traded in closed loops or 'cycles', with the aim of retaining as much value as possible of products, parts and materials.

To make this happen, we’ve partnered with Reflow, to test out different ways we can recycle our ‘end-of-use’ frames, like keychains, which we’ve already produced. We’ve also worked with DGTL and creative studio ATL Model Art to create an installation using 15.000 surplus lenses. The piece was shown at DGTL festival in April 2019, and will go on tour throughout the rest of the year to promote circularity.
