Responsibility

We are not a sustainable company. But we are learning and taking action towards reducing the footprint we leave behind.

In our process to take more responsibility, we decided to assess our supply chain, product, HQ and stores.

From now on, we will keep track of our impact and set clear goals for short and long term change. By being open about our process, we hope to become an engine for positive change in our industry. Follow our journey and join us by thinking twice about your own impact.

We’ve got enough right here to keep you busy for a while, but if you’re hungry to dive deeper into the subject, check out our blog on Medium.

We’re working on it.

Goals

On the road to becoming a more responsible company, we’ve set some goals to reach by 2021:

Product and packaging

peope

  • Make 35% of our collection from bio acetate by the end of 2020.

  • Find sustainable and practical ways to reuse pre-consumer acetate waste (left over after the frames are cut).

  • Reuse or recycle demo lenses (placeholder lenses without prescription).

  • Remove all unnecessary packaging by 2020.

  • Produce all packaging from 80% recycled materials by November 2020.

  • Invest in reusable packaging or set up a recycling initiative for packaging by 2021.

People

product

  • Audit and monitor all factories we work with directly, e.g. our frame producers, on a yearly basis.

  • Have Code of Conduct signed by factories we work with indirectly, e.g. our acetate suppliers, by July 2020.

  • Build a Social Compliance Programme, with a focus on improving work life for all employees.

  • Become a certified B Corporation (focusing on environmental and social performance) by 2021.

Our Impact

goals reduce carbon footprint (1)
  • Reduce our like-for-like (average emissions per frame) carbon footprint by 10% in 2020, compared with 2019.

  • Reduce our like-for-like (average emissions per frame) carbon footprint by 15% in 2021, compared with 2020.

It's important to note that we won't stop here. We'll constantly be adding and adjusting to our goals as we go forward.
