Known in the Netherlands for his linguistic agility, surrealism and sharp cultural observation, Pepijn Lanen is a creative wordsmith with a lot to say. He channels his vision into song lyrics, podcasts, children’s books and television, tackling a wide spectrum of topics, from nightlife to fatherhood. This originality is simply innate – an undeniable force that just has to come out.
There is never a clearly defined plan behind Pepijn’s creations: an idea unexpectedly surfaces, takes root, and he has to bring it to fruition. Without ever trying too hard. “Sometimes ideas are locked away, and the harder you want them to reveal themselves, the further away they get. If you can let that go, the ideas actually start flowing again one by one – and then suddenly, a thousand at a time.”
